The 11 municipalities of Quintana Roo will primarily rely on property tax for their income this year. Other significant sources of revenue include the acquisition of real estate, environmental sanitation, garbage collection, urban development services, and land procedures.
According to the Revenue Laws for fiscal year 2025, the combined property tax projection is estimated at 2 billion 539 million 513 thousand 800 pesos. This amount will be distributed among Benito Juárez ($1,062 million), Solidaridad ($712.2 million), Tulum ($190.6 million), Isla Mujeres ($170.1 million), Puerto Morelos ($141.1 million), Cozumel ($131.5 million), Othón P. Blanco ($92.3 million), Bacalar ($12.4 million), Lázaro Cárdenas ($16.6 million), José María Morelos ($1.2 million), and Felipe Carrillo Puerto (797 thousand pesos).
The second largest tax is related to the acquisition of real estate, projected to generate 2 billion 113 million 589 thousand 926 pesos.
Tourism in Quintana Roo is supported by a hotel infrastructure of 1,443 hotels with 134,417 rooms across 14 destinations, and 25,726 active holiday rentals in 13 destinations. The fee for services related to ecology, environmental protection, and environmental sanitation is tied to the number of tourists each municipality receives, with a combined projection of 1 billion 909 million 913 thousand 378 pesos.
The fourth largest source of income is related to garbage collection, transport, treatment, and disposal of solid waste services, projected to amount to 687 million 288 thousand 798 pesos.
The charge for rights for the provision of services in the field of urban development, which includes the granting of licenses, permits, and construction certificates, is jointly projected to reach 657 million 756 thousand 929 pesos.
