Isla Mujeres — Personnel from the Secretariat of Citizen Security and the Navy arrested Yahir “N” and Jesús Miguel “N”, suspected of involvement in crimes against public health.

During surveillance patrols, members of the Centurion Group and the Navy, with the support of a canine unit, observed two people exchanging small plastic bags that contained apparent marijuana.

Upon noticing the police presence, the individuals attempted to flee, but due to the prompt intervention they were intercepted on the sidewalk of the low lane at the main entrance to the Secrets Playa Blanca hotel in Costa Mujeres.

During an inspection, 61 plastic bags containing green and dry vegetable matter similar to marijuana were seized from them; six transparent bags containing solid crystalline fragments similar to crystal meth; a navy blue fanny pack and a black waist bag; and a lilac-colored cell phone. Both individuals and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Combating Drug Dealing.
