Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Playa del Carmen has announced a free measles vaccination campaign scheduled for February 16 and 17, aiming to protect residents from the contagious disease.
The drive, organized through the Municipal Health Department, will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the plaza of the new city hall. Officials said the campaign will offer the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine for children according to the national vaccination schedule, and the MR (measles and rubella) vaccine for adolescents and adults with incomplete or delayed immunization records.
Municipal Health Secretary José Antonio Uribe Trujillo stated that priority will be given to children aged 12 and 18 months, with a booster at age 6, as well as generally to individuals aged 10 to 49 who lack vaccination records or have incomplete schedules. He urged attendees to bring their CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) and National Health Card for proper tracking.
Uribe emphasized that vaccination is one of the most effective measures to prevent disease outbreaks and encouraged active public participation in the campaign.
