Cozumel, Quintana Roo — A round-up donation program at OXXO convenience stores will raise money to strengthen the school breakfasts served to 680 boys and girls at seven primary schools on the island of Cozumel.
The “Cambio x Cambio” initiative runs from October 1 through December 31 and was launched by the Cozumel municipal government, the municipal family development agency (DIF) and the convenience store chain.
Diana Sosa Blanco, honorary president of DIF Cozumel, said the school program provides hot breakfasts. Funds collected through customer round-ups will go toward improving how the meals are prepared and distributed, as well as the facilities used to serve them.
Sosa Blanco highlighted the joint effort by government, the private sector and residents to support the nutrition of the students who benefit from the program during the final quarter of the year.
