TULUM — Residents of the Aldea Tulum subdivision witnessed a scene that caused outrage and alarm: a young mother, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of her motorcycle and crashed while carrying her three-year-old daughter.

The accident occurred at the main entrance to the subdivision when María “N”, 22 years old, fell onto the pavement along with the young child. The girl suffered blows to the head and a leg injury, for which she was transported to the hospital. Doctors confirmed that, although she was out of danger, she required specialized attention.

Witnesses recounted that the little girl was crying and screaming "it hurts" after the fall, while her mother was not reacting clearly. Neighbors immediately assisted the child and called the emergency number.

Municipal Police officers and paramedics arrived minutes later to provide first aid and secure the motorcycle, which was taken into custody.

The situation generated anger among the residents, who pointed out that it is not the first time people have been driving under the influence of alcohol in the area, but the fact that a minor was exposed to danger makes it even more serious.

The Specialized Unit for Attention to Gender Violence (GEAVIG) opened an investigation file and the case was referred to the municipal DIF (Integral Family Development System), which will evaluate the conditions in which the child lives and will guarantee protective measures.
