Firefighters and emergency personnel at the Xcaret Arte hotel in Playa del Carmen after a fire broke out in the underground parking electrical room.

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Nearly 900 workers were evacuated from the Xcaret Arte hotel on Monday after a fire broke out in the electrical panel area of the underground parking garage.

The fire started in the electrical panel room located in the hotel’s underground parking lot. As a precaution, police officers evacuated 880 employees from various operational areas while civil protection personnel worked to control the blaze.

No tourists were affected, and no injuries or cases of smoke inhalation were reported, officials said. Paramedics were not needed at the scene.

The fire was extinguished without further incident, with authorities praising the rapid response of emergency crews and the hotel’s evacuation protocols.

The cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit, though officials will conduct an investigation to confirm the exact origin.
