Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A motorcycle fire at the intersection of Avenida Los Gansos and Calle Jacanas, near the fifth park of the Villas del Sol neighborhood, resulted in two injuries on Thursday afternoon. The incident involved a father and his minor daughter.
The fire began when a spark at the front of the vehicle caused it to be rapidly consumed by flames. The father sustained burns on one leg and required hospitalization. His daughter sustained minor burns and did not require hospitalization.
According to witness accounts, the father was on his way to pick up his daughter from secondary school when the incident occurred. Municipal Police closed the avenue to ensure safety and allow for medical attention. Firefighters extinguished the flames, reducing the motorcycle to debris.
Although the driver reported seeing a spark, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, with possible electrical or brake-related origins cited.
