Mexico City — Mexico’s National Customs Agency (ANAM) confirmed Friday that one of its officials, identified only as Carlos “N,” has been arrested in the United States on suspicion of organized crime.

The arrest was the result of coordination between Mexican and U.S. authorities, according to a joint statement from ANAM and the Security and Civil Protection Secretariat (SSPC).

Officials did not disclose the exact location, date, or legal status of the detainee. The statement said only that Carlos “N” is linked to alleged organized crime activities. No formal charges or judicial rulings have been announced in Mexico.

ANAM and the SSPC said they would carry out the necessary procedures to clarify the facts and determine responsibilities under the law. No further details were provided about the investigation or possible administrative actions within the agency.

The case is expected to develop in stages, with authorities first confirming the arrest and later releasing information on ministerial or administrative proceedings.
