Quintana Roo, Mexico — The Mexican Navy seized over 7,000 doses of methamphetamine and arrested 102 suspects during a major anti-drug operation in the states of Quintana Roo and Yucatán, naval officials announced.
The Fifth Naval Region reported that during “Operation Sable,” conducted from March 1 to April 5, authorities confiscated 7,784 doses of methamphetamine, 242.39 kilograms and 1,430 doses of marijuana, and 1,056 doses of cocaine.
Naval forces conducted the operation in coordination with state and local public security agencies, covering 32,794 kilometers by vehicle and 5,238.9 kilometers on foot. Authorities established 208 checkpoints, inspected 17,084 people, and carried out 62 coordinated operations.
In addition to the drug seizures, officials secured four firearms, 12 magazines, 114 rounds of ammunition, 63 vehicles, and 22 properties. The Navy also provided perimeter security for 22 search warrants executed during the operation.
The operation targeted drug trafficking networks operating in the Yucatán Peninsula region, which includes popular tourist destinations like Cancún and Playa del Carmen.
