Mérida, Yucatán — Approximately 20,000 people paid an emotional tribute to the world-renowned Yucatecan composer Armando Manzanero, led by Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada, during the central event of Mérida Fest 2026, held as part of the 484th anniversary celebrations of the Yucatecan capital.
The mayor stated that the 2026 edition of the festival becomes emotional by paying homage to a great artist whose lyrics and chords inspired many people around the world regarding love.
A starry night was the setting for the show, a world premiere in honor of the famed Yucatecan composer, which featured Susana Zabaleta, Alex Lora, Francisco Céspedes, and Juan Pablo Manzanero.
One of the most emotional moments was the appearance of maestro Manzanero performing some of his songs thanks to technology and Artificial Intelligence.
Local talent joined the grand celebration, with the participation of Los Juglares, Gina Osorno, and members of the Mérida Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Rusell Montañez Coronado.
Well-known songs by the Yucatecan icon such as Somos novios, Mia, Esta tarde vi llover, Adoro, No, Contigo aprendí, Cuando estoy contigo, Señor amor, Como yo te amé, and No sé tú were sung along by the spectators.
The audience also enjoyed songs that have made the artists who were part of this tribute famous.
