Progreso, Yucatán — Two weeks after Daniela Gómez, 28, died after falling from a boat in Puerto Progreso, her family is demanding answers and urging the people who were with her to testify before the State Prosecutor’s Office.
Gómez, a native of Mexicali who lived in Mérida, died on July 26 after falling into the sea from a vessel and allegedly being struck by its propeller. She was taken to a hospital in Mérida, where her death was confirmed.
According to relatives, only two of the six people who were aboard the boat with her have come forward to give statements. The family says the case was initially reported as a maritime accident but believes there are still unresolved questions about what happened that night.
Relatives are asking authorities to continue the investigation and are calling on the other passengers to appear before the State Prosecutor’s Office to provide their testimony.
