Man Sentenced in Cancun for Domestic Violence, Forced Drug Use

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A judge sentenced Santiago Joel Davila Hernandez to three years in prison for domestic violence, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced. The case involved physical aggression against his partner and their 18-month-old son.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on February 22, when Davila attacked his partner and child during an argument at their home. During the altercation, he also attempted to force the woman to consume crystal methamphetamine, a highly addictive illegal drug.

The Prosecutor’s Office specialized in crimes against women and gender-based violence led the investigation, gathering evidence that led to the conviction.

Officials emphasized that domestic violence remains a persistent problem in Cancun and urged victims to report abuse. They reiterated their commitment to protecting women and children and strengthening legal and preventive measures.
