Cancún, Quintana Roo — A fatal vehicular accident claimed the life of a man who was trapped and burned inside his car on the Cancún–Leona Vicario highway near the La Chiapaneca neighborhood. The incident occurred on Saturday morning.
Victim Heard Screaming Before Fire Consumed Vehicle
Emergency services received multiple calls via 911 from witnesses who reported seeing a vehicle veer off the road and catch fire, with a person trapped inside screaming for help. Municipal police officers were the first to arrive at the scene and confirmed the driver was unable to escape.
The Heroic Fire Department later extinguished the flames and recovered the victim’s body, which was completely charred. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver was speeding, lost control of the vehicle, and left the roadway, leading to the fire.
Authorities Secure Scene and Launch Investigation
Local authorities cordoned off the area while forensic experts and agents from the State Attorney General’s Office conducted their investigation. The body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service for further examination.
The Attorney General’s Office is working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
