Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man identified as Jan Pavel “N” was arrested on drug charges during a joint security operation in the municipality of Benito Juárez, authorities said.
The arrest occurred during a patrol led by officers from the Public Security Department, in coordination with the Mexican Navy, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard.
According to the official report, agents spotted the suspect handling several bags containing dried plant material resembling marijuana near the trunk of a vehicle on Avenida Puerto Juárez. When he noticed the authorities, he tried to flee by getting into the car but was intercepted a short distance away.
During a preventive search of the suspect, his belongings, and the vehicle, officers seized:
- 80 small plastic ziplock bags containing dried plant material resembling marijuana
- Two transparent bags with dried plant material resembling marijuana
- A Vivo brand cell phone
- A red eco-friendly bag
- 320 Mexican pesos in cash
- A white Changan vehicle with Quintana Roo license plates
Jan Pavel “N” and the seized evidence were handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Dealing, which will open an investigation and determine his legal status.
