Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Isla Mujeres is building a new public recreation area for young people in the La Gloria neighborhood, featuring benches, exercise equipment, and free WiFi.

Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde said the project aims to create dignified, safe, and functional spaces for the island’s youth. The area is being developed under the new dome in Colonia La Gloria as part of ongoing efforts to modernize sports facilities and provide gathering spots for healthy recreation and community interaction.

“This new area includes benches for socializing, exercise equipment, and free WiFi installation,” Gómez Ricalde said. “We want young people to not only have a place to practice sports but also a suitable location to meet, socialize, and complete school assignments or work.”

The mayor emphasized that these initiatives are part of her administration’s vision to strengthen social cohesion and promote the comprehensive well-being of young residents by fostering environments that encourage sports, family unity, and community engagement.
