Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Promotes Local Talent With ‘Cántale a México con el Corazón’

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Fifteen singers took the stage at the Municipal Esplanade this weekend for the opening round of “Cántale a México con el Corazón,” a singing competition the Isla Mujeres municipal government runs as part of its Patriotic Month program.

The contest, now in its fourth edition, has become a showcase for discovering and promoting local talent. Competitors performed regional Mexican music before an audience of island families, visitors and a panel of judges.

After hearing all 15 performances, the judges advanced 10 voices to the next stage and ended the run of five participants.

The evening also featured a performance by the children’s dance group “Al Son del Corazón,” whose members brought the stage to life with lively numbers filled with music, color and Mexican tradition.

Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, who heads the municipal government, said her administration continues to create opportunities for children, teenagers, adults and seniors to develop their abilities, express themselves through art and find stages where they can share their talent with an audience.

“We want to keep opening spaces for our people, so that those who have talent find a stage where they can show it, grow and fulfill their dreams,” Gómez Ricalde said. “Cántale a México con el Corazón is also an opportunity to recognize all the good things we have in Isla Mujeres.”

The competition is one of a series of activities marking Patriotic Month, through which the municipal government promotes culture, reinforces traditions and celebrates Mexican identity through music.

The 10 advancing singers will continue to compete in the coming rounds on the way to the final, where judges and the public will recognize the performers who win them over.
