Imoveqroo Installs 128 Bus Stops for MOBI System in Cancun and Chetumal

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo) has installed 128 official bus stops for the new Mobility of Quintana Roo Welfare System (MOBI), with 85 located in Cancun and 43 in Chetumal, as part of the state’s public transport modernization efforts.

In Chetumal, work is progressing on 43 stops along the Sian Ka’an-Las Americas route, including 30 vertical signs and 13 bus shelters. In Cancun, 85 stops are being placed on Route 27 of the Nichupte Bridge, consisting of 51 vertical signs and 34 shelters. These stops will be the only authorized points for passenger boarding and alighting.

Imoveqroo Director General Rafael Hernandez Kotasek said the official stops are essential to the new mobility model, helping to organize public transport operations, improve road safety, and provide certainty for users. He noted that MOBI buses will only pick up and drop off passengers at these designated stops, reducing risks, improving traffic flow, optimizing travel times, and promoting a more orderly mobility culture.

The installation coincides with operational tests currently underway in Cancun and Chetumal as part of the MOBI system’s implementation, which includes modern electric buses, technology, and accessibility features. The new electric TARUK buses are also being introduced as part of the system.
