Icaro Brings Intimate, Moving Theater Experience to Cancun

Daniele Finzi Pasca performing in the play Icaro on stage in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Swiss creator Daniele Finzi Pasca returns to Cancun with one of his most iconic works, “Icaro,” a play that has moved audiences worldwide for more than 35 years. Performances will take place at the Teatro de la Ciudad from May 20 to 23.

Following the success of “Titizé: A Venetian Dream,” which drew over 10,000 attendees, the Compagnia Finzi Pasca brings a deeply human theatrical proposal that blends sensitivity, humor, and reflection in an intimate, immersive format.

An emblematic work of contemporary theater

Written, directed, and performed by Finzi Pasca himself, “Icaro” will be staged on May 20, 21, and 22 at 8:00 p.m., with an additional performance on Saturday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Originally premiered in 1991, the play was born from the artist’s personal experience volunteering with terminally ill patients. That experience gave rise to the concept of “theater of the caress,” a stage philosophy that prioritizes empathy, silence, and emotional connection with the audience.

Over its history, “Icaro” has surpassed 8,000 international performances and has been presented in multiple languages, establishing itself as a cornerstone of contemporary theater.

An immersive experience in Cancun

One of the most distinctive elements of this production is its immersive format: one audience member is invited to share the stage with the actor, creating an intimate and deeply emotional experience.

The production also features original music by María Bonzanigo and lighting design by Marco Finzi Pasca.

Tickets are available through Mistickets and at the Teatro de la Ciudad box office.
