Cancún, Quintana Roo — Residents of the El Pedregal neighborhood made a grim discovery Friday afternoon while cleaning a green area, uncovering a human skull and immediately alerting emergency services.

Authorities Secure the Scene

The report, received around 4:50 p.m., mobilized municipal authorities, who confirmed the finding and cordoned off the area to preserve potential evidence. The State Attorney General’s Office was notified, prompting homicide investigators and forensic personnel to begin processing the scene.

Forensic experts documented the area and collected the skull, which was transported to the Medical Forensic Service (Semefo) for analysis.

Location and Investigation

According to witnesses, the remains were found near El Manantial Street, several kilometers from Huayacán Avenue. Residents walking through the area reportedly spotted the skeletal remains and notified authorities.

The Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation to determine the identity of the deceased and whether the case is linked to prior missing persons reports or criminal activity.

No further details about the condition of the remains or potential suspects have been released. Authorities continue to examine the scene for additional evidence.
