New Dome Opens at Bacalar’s Early Childhood Center

Governor Mara Lezama inaugurating the new dome at the Bacalar Early Childhood Center

Bacalar, MX. — In response to requests from mothers, caregivers, and workers, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa inaugurated a new dome at the Integral Center for Early Childhood (CIPI) in Bacalar, a project executed by the Secretariat of Public Works (SEOP) that strengthens safe infrastructure for early childhood.

Accompanied by the honorary president of the Quintana Roo DIF System, Verónica Lezama Espinosa, the head of the Executive stated that the dome is the result of a legitimate demand, built by the state government with the people’s money that belongs to the people.

“We are very clear that in this humanist government with a feminist heart, the best investment of the people’s money is in girls and boys. In this different government, we combat corruption and prioritize honesty; we are recognized as the most honest government in the entire country, not just that I am the best Governor, but the best government,” said Mara Lezama.

According to data from the SEOP, headed by Rafael Lara Díaz, the construction involved an investment of 1,850,586 pesos destined to improve the development conditions of 145 girls and boys. The Bacalar CIPI serves children from 43 days old to 5 years and 11 months.

This new space, which includes a metal structure, curved covering, and new lighting, will allow for recreational, educational, cultural, and sports activities in a safe environment protected from inclement weather.

The work is part of the state program that contemplates the construction of 1,109 domes in Quintana Roo, a strategy that strengthens educational and community infrastructure, benefiting thousands of families who depend on these centers.

The Bacalar CIPI was inaugurated in March 2018. It operates from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in support of working families. It has 6 educational rooms by age range. It is part of the project aligned with the New Mexican School and the commitment of President Claudia Sheinbaum.

During the inauguration ceremony, the honorary president of DIF, Verónica Lezama, affirmed that the first years of life forever mark the physical, emotional, and social development of each girl and boy. “That is why the work done here is so important, because it cares for, accompanies, educates, and above all protects,” she said.

She thanked the work of all the Bacalar CIPI staff, because they put their hearts forward so that girls and boys grow up in dignified, safe spaces full of hope.

For his part, municipal president Alfredo Contreras Méndez reiterated his commitment to continue working as a team, with responsibility and with heart to build spaces that generate well-being and opportunities for everyone.

Also present at this inauguration ceremony were Karla Teresa Sandoval López, president of the Bacalar CIPI Parents Association; Reyna Valdivia Arceo Rosado, Secretary of Anti-Corruption and Good Government; Isa Franchesca Pernillo López, director of the Bacalar CIPI; Abril Sabido Alcérreca, general director of DIF; María de los Ángeles Martínez Cantaneo, responsible for the National DIF System for Child Care Centers in Quintana Roo; and María José Noverola Rodríguez, general director of DIF Bacalar.
