French Navy’s Digital Titan Warship Makes Historic Visit to Cozumel

The French Navy frigate Amiral Ronarc'h docked in Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The French Navy’s advanced digital frigate Amiral Ronarc’h (D660) will arrive in Cozumel this weekend for a historic visit as part of its international operational evaluation deployment.

The warship, considered one of the world’s most advanced military vessels, is making its first-ever stop in Mexican waters during a long-term mission in the North Atlantic and North America. According to the French National Navy, the deployment aims to test the ship’s military capabilities before it enters active service.

The Amiral Ronarc’h belongs to the new generation of Defense and Intervention Frigates (FDI) and features cutting-edge technology as the first fully digitalized warship. This allows it to integrate high-precision combat, navigation, and communication systems in real time.

Naval specialists note that its inverted bow design not only gives it a futuristic appearance but also improves performance in adverse maritime conditions, enhancing stability and operational efficiency.

With a displacement of approximately 4,500 tons and a crew of about 125 highly specialized personnel, the frigate is equipped to handle naval, aerial, and surface threats in line with 21st-century security challenges.

The vessel’s arrival in Mexican waters reflects international cooperation efforts and naval diplomacy, strengthening ties between France and Mexico in maritime security and strategic collaboration.

Port authorities and tourism officials anticipate that the presence of this innovative global naval platform will generate interest among visitors and island residents.
