The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Quintana Roo is ramping up its efforts in the fight against breast cancer. The institute is offering free mammograms throughout March, using its mobile mammogram unit to reach various locations.
Leydi Beatriz Corral Villanueva, the Assistant Medical Coordinator in Public Health, announced that the mobile unit will be stationed at strategic spots in Chetumal, Pucté, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and Cancun. The schedule is as follows:
- March 18 to 23: UMF No.11, Playa del Carmen
- March 24 to 27: HGZ/MF No.2, Cozumel
- March 28 to 30: UMF No.16, Cancun
- March 31: UMF No.19, Cancun
The IMSS is encouraging all female members aged between 40 and 69 to make use of this free service. Early detection is crucial in the fight against breast cancer, and a timely mammogram can make a significant difference in diagnosis and treatment. Those interested can attend on the specified dates or contact their local medical unit for more information.
The IMSS also wants to remind everyone that these screenings are available year-round at their Family Medicine Units and IMSS hospitals.
