The local government is planning to partner with small hotels in the downtown area to rejuvenate the tourism industry in Playa Del Carmen. The aim is to ensure successful high seasons that benefit the residents of Solidaridad. Estefanía Hernández, the Secretary of Tourism in Solidaridad, has announced a collaborative strategy. This involves conducting tours on Quinta Avenida and organizing significant events in partnership with the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts of Solidaridad (IMCAS).
Plans for the upcoming winter season are particularly notable, with a large event planned to span Quinta Avenida, Puerto Aventuras, and Villas del Sol. These initiatives will be undertaken in collaboration with the private sector. The goal is to attract more tourists and generate positive outcomes for the region's hotel and commercial sectors. Hernández also mentioned that they are anticipating the relaunch of the federal "Magical Neighborhoods" program, which aims to feature Playa del Carmen. This initiative could provide an additional boost to the area, building on previous efforts to enhance the tourist offerings and image of the destination.
During a recent tour with the municipal president, Estefanía Mercado Ascencio, areas needing improvement were identified. These include sanitation, public works, urban image enhancement, and regulation of informal commerce. Hernández emphasized the need to address these issues to restore the vibrancy and appeal that Playa del Carmen once held for both domestic and international visitors.
