Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Foundation of Parks and Museums of Cozumel (FPMC) has announced the next edition of its program "Huellas de Conciencia" (Footprints of Consciousness), scheduled for Saturday, June 28, at 9:00 a.m. in the Punta Sur Ecotourism Park. The initiative aims to promote reflection, emotional well-being, and a deeper connection with the island’s natural environment.
A Commitment to Harmony Between Society and Nature
FPMC Director General Juanita Alonso Marrufo emphasized that the program aligns with the institution’s mission to strengthen the balance between society and the environment. She noted that the initiative reflects the principles of the New Agreement for Well-Being and Development of Quintana Roo, championed by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa.
Participants will engage in a guided meditation and mindfulness session led by instructor Luis Miguel Pérez Martín. The session, held against the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea, will focus on the importance of ecosystem conservation and the biocultural significance of the area.
Hands-On Mangrove Restoration Efforts
Following the meditation, attendees will contribute to the ongoing restoration of the mangrove ecosystem in the X’tacún Lagoon. The activity will educate participants on the critical role of mangroves as natural barriers, carbon traps, and habitats for terrestrial and marine biodiversity.
Punta Sur Director Jesús Benavides Andrade highlighted that the program is open to environmental groups, educational institutions, socially responsible businesses, and the general public.

Interested individuals can register by emailing parquepuntasur@cozumelparks.org. The FPMC stressed that community involvement is essential to the success of its conservation programs.
