Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A fire near CTM and Lilis avenues was fully extinguished thanks to the rapid response of brigades from the Secretary of Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Firefighters, according to a statement from the Municipal Government.

Swift Action Prevents Greater Damage

Authorities confirmed that the flames did not reach residential areas due to the timely and professional intervention of emergency crews. Their quick action was critical in safeguarding both lives and property in the area.

Over the past 10 days, six fires have been reported in the same vicinity, with a total of 330 square meters of vegetation affected. The repeated incidents have raised concerns among local officials, who remain on high alert for potential new emergencies.

Call for Prevention in Forested Areas

The municipal government reaffirmed its commitment to risk prevention and emergency response. Officials urged residents to avoid activities that could spark fires, including:

  • Uncontrolled agricultural burns
  • Lighting campfires
  • Discarding cigarette butts in green areas or vacant lots

“The safety and well-being of Playa del Carmen’s residents is our top priority. If you spot smoke, fire, or any sign of danger, report it immediately to 911. Acting quickly can make all the difference,” authorities emphasized.

The incident marks the latest in a series of fires that have strained local emergency resources, prompting renewed calls for public vigilance.
