Cancun, Quintana Roo — The countdown has begun for one of the year’s most special sports and family celebrations. On June 21, starting at 6:30 a.m. at Parque Cancun, the second Father’s Day Race will take place, an event expected to bring families together for a day of coexistence, health, and unforgettable moments.
During the official presentation, Alejandro Luna López, director of the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of spaces where families can bond through sports. “It’s a special day to share with family, run together, and create unique memories. Parque Cancun is a safe, natural, and wonderful place to enjoy this celebration,” he said, inviting the public to join the race.
César Barrios, director of Parque Cancun, explained the logistics that will be implemented to ensure a successful day and reiterated that the park has become an ideal site for sports, family recreation, and cultural activities.
The race will feature 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer routes, a 2.5-kilometer recreational walk, and children’s and youth races of 400 and 800 meters. Organizers expect 600 competitors in categories including Open, Submaster, Master, Veterans Plus, and Golden Age.
Mariana Clemente announced the participation of the Marina Puerto Cancun trampoline park, which will contribute prizes and surprises to make the celebration even more special. Pedro Guerra, commercial manager of Chevrolet, confirmed the brand’s support for the event and noted that the dealership will serve as the site for pre-race kit distribution.
On behalf of Municipal Traffic, José Luis Heredia reported that coordinated efforts will ensure safe and smooth access to the park, urging participants to arrive early.
Finally, Armando Macías, director of MotionEvents and race organizer, explained the technical aspects of the competition and shared a reflection that drew applause: “A father is a provider, but not only by giving food or money. He also provides time, attention, advice, presence, example, and emotional stability. A providing father doesn’t just fill the house with things; he also fills the heart with security.”
With 72 prizes to be awarded thanks to sponsor support, runners will receive a special World Cup-inspired shirt alluding to Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Portugal. The route is designed to enjoy one of Cancun’s best natural settings. Registration remains open at registro.motionevents.mx.
