Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Dance groups interested in joining the third edition of the “Bailando con el Corazón 2026” contest have until Oct. 30 to register, the municipal Culture Department announced.

The competition is open to groups from both the island and the mainland, and organizers say it is designed to showcase local artistic talent and raise the profile of the people who work in dance.

According to the contest rules, each group must have between 10 and 20 members, all of them at least 13 years old. Every performance must last a minimum of five minutes and no longer than eight.

Two nights of performances at the Explanada Municipal

The contest will be held on two dates, both starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Explanada Municipal, where island families can watch a showcase of the country’s talent, music and traditions.

  • Nov. 6: Freestyle round, with each group choosing a Mexican state to represent through its dance.
  • Nov. 20: Choreographies themed around the Mexican Revolution.

Judges will score each group on costumes that match the theme, dance technique, choreographic expression, rhythm, originality and stage presence.

The top three places will receive trophies, and every participating group will receive a cash recognition.

Organizers described the event as a way to preserve Mexican traditions, give local talent a platform and let younger generations show what they can do in dance, which they called part of the identity of island families.

Groups can register through Oct. 30 at the Culture Department offices in the yellow building at Plaza Bicentenario in the La Gloria neighborhood. More information is available by WhatsApp at 998 734 8594.
