Cozumel — A publicly shared accusation has exposed an alleged case of physical and verbal violence, along with threats, that occurred in the early hours of January 1 at the “Metropolitan” bar in Cozumel.

According to the victim’s testimony, the events took place during New Year’s Eve celebrations and resulted in injuries to at least four people. There is also a direct accusation regarding the actions of the establishment’s security personnel.

According to the version of the affected woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, the aggression occurred while she was celebrating at the venue with family and friends, including her nephew and his partner, who were vacationing on the island.

At the same table, she said, were two men identified as Alejandro N. and Humberto N., whom the woman described as indirect acquaintances with no prior friendship.

The conflict reportedly erupted when leaving the bar, after the woman rejected an invitation to an after-party. Humberto N. reacted violently, uttering sexist and xenophobic insults, as well as verbal threats, she indicated.

Faced with the situation, the woman’s nephew intervened to ask for respect and avoid confrontation. At that moment, Humberto allegedly verbally and physically assaulted him, with Alejandro “N” subsequently joining in, which provoked a fight inside the establishment.

The situation continued outside the bar. The woman claimed that both men continued to assault a friend of the group, identified as Roberto N., who was on the ground after being removed by security personnel.

When trying to help him, the woman stated she received a direct blow to the face, which caused visible injuries and a fractured tooth, in addition to bruises on her neck and face.

As a result of the events, the nephew suffered open wounds and multiple blows, while his partner sustained a foot injury requiring medical stitches. The assaulted friend suffered a nasal fracture and various bruises, according to the accusation.

The victim also stated that, despite requesting help, the bar’s security personnel did not intervene to contain the aggression, limiting themselves to recommending that the group leave the premises and warning them that “they didn’t know who they were messing with.”

She reported that before leaving the area, Humberto N. allegedly attempted to assault her again and issued direct threats, stating there would be repercussions and that they knew her whereabouts.

She expressed fear for her safety and that of her family. Furthermore, she publicly stated that she has no conflict with any third parties, directly pointing to both individuals as responsible for any subsequent harm.

As of the closing of this edition, there had been no official information regarding arrests or formal complaints filed with the ministerial authority.
