Fairmont Mayakoba to Stage Symphony in a Cenote Concert for 50 Guests

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Fairmont Mayakoba has announced the return of its annual Symphony in a Cenote concert, a one-night-only performance set for Oct. 30, 2026, inside a natural cenote hidden in the jungle of the Riviera Maya.

The event will be limited to 50 guests, who will travel from the resort to the underground freshwater sinkhole for a symphonic orchestra performance. Organizers describe the setting as a limestone cathedral with natural acoustics, where stalactites hang overhead and the surrounding jungle keeps outside noise at bay.

The experience has become one of the resort’s most anticipated events and is being held as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations. The evening includes a bottle of champagne per couple and canapés served while the orchestra performs.

“Symphony in a Cenote is one of those experiences that reminds us why we do what we do,” said Gonzalo Güelman Ros, general manager of Fairmont Mayakoba, in a statement. “It is not just an event, it is a memory that guests carry with them forever. There is something profoundly moving about hearing a symphonic orchestra perform inside a space that nature took thousands of years to create.”

The Yucatán Peninsula is home to one of the world’s largest networks of underground rivers and cenotes, which the ancient Maya considered sacred gateways to the underworld. The concert is held once a year, and attendance is capped at 50 people.
