Estefanía Mercado, the Municipal President, presided over the 2024 Municipal Sports Award ceremony held in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. Mercado announced an unprecedented investment of 100 million pesos for the upcoming year, underlining the vital role sports play in our society.
The award recipients were celebrated for their commitment and achievements across various sports, serving as role models and inspirations within the community. The announced funding will be directed towards sports infrastructure, with the athletes themselves having a say in how these resources will be utilized.
Alberto López Castro, the Director of Sports, pledged his support to assist athletes in realizing their dreams. A number of winners and sports advocates were honored at the event, which was attended by local officials and notable individuals from the sports industry.
