Porsche Wrecked in Playa del Carmen Bus Incident

A damaged Porsche sports car after crashing into a pole on Federal Highway 307 in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A traffic accident involving a Porsche sports car mobilized emergency services and transit authorities on Monday after the vehicle left the asphalt and crashed into a pole on the central median of Federal Highway 307, near the Grand Velas Riviera Maya hotel complex.

According to initial reports and accounts gathered at the scene, the incident occurred when a bus made a sudden lane change from the right to the left lane, cutting off the sports car driver.

To avoid a direct collision, the motorist performed an evasive maneuver that led him onto the central median, where he ultimately struck a metal pole.

Following the events, the bus driver fled the scene, heading north.

Motorists traveling through the area alerted emergency services via 911, leading to the arrival of Transit officers and police, who secured the area to prevent another accident and coordinated efforts to remove the damaged vehicle.

The Porsche ended up with severe damage to the front end. Subsequently, the unit was towed by a crane and taken to an impound lot to continue with the corresponding procedures.

No serious injuries were reported, although authorities stated that a file was opened to determine liability and locate the involved bus, relying on surveillance cameras and witness testimonies.
