Mérida, Mexico – The tranquility of this coastal municipality was interrupted on Monday afternoon following a double execution inside a stable located on 17th Street by 10th Street, where two people lost their lives after an alleged armed attack.
According to initial reports, neighbors heard a burst of gunfire coming from the property and, upon going outside, observed several individuals fleeing in a red vehicle. Minutes later, two people injured by gunshot wounds emerged from the site to ask for help and alerted that inside the stable there were two people without signs of life.
Among the deceased victims is a minor who was caring for the horses at the location. The other deceased person was identified as Juan “N”, alias “Nato”, originally from the state of Quintana Roo, who had reportedly recently arrived in this town.
The area was cordoned off by elements of the State Investigation Police (PEI), in coordination with units from the Secretariat of Public Security. Authorities deployed an operation to secure the area and begin the corresponding investigations.
No arrests have been reported so far. Authorities continue with the procedures to clarify the motive of the attack and locate those responsible for this violent incident that has caused consternation among residents of Dzilam González.
