Cancún, Mexico — A 42-year-old Cuban national identified as Yosvani was arrested by agents of the Investigative Police in Cancún for his alleged involvement in the rape of his romantic partner, as well as acts of zoophilia and animal abuse against two dogs residing in the same household.
Charges and Investigation
Quintana Roo State Attorney General Raciel López Salazar confirmed that the incidents occurred in the municipality of Benito Juárez (Cancún). The victim, a 38-year-old woman, had been in a six-month relationship with the accused, during which she endured persistent violence exacerbated by the suspect’s drug use.
According to the complaint, Yosvani physically overpowered and sexually assaulted the woman. Subsequent investigations revealed he had also abused the two dogs living in the home. "Both animals showed signs of zoophilia, mistreatment, and animal cruelty, as confirmed by a veterinary medical report," stated López Salazar.
Legal Proceedings
The State Attorney General’s Office obtained an arrest warrant, which was executed by the Investigative Police. The suspect was brought before a judge, who ordered him to stand trial for rape. As a precautionary measure, the judge imposed two years of mandatory pretrial detention while the investigation continues.
Authorities are also examining evidence of animal abuse, which may lead to additional charges.
The case remains under investigation.
