New Taxi Meter Pilot Test in Cancun Costing 2 Million Pesos!

The introduction of taxi meters for a pilot test in Cancun is projected to cost approximately 2 million pesos. Rodrigo Alcázar Urrutia, the outgoing director of the Institute of Mobility of Quintana Roo, shared that the initial test phase is planned for the first quarter of the year.

Despite the state government denying the initial budget request, the project will undergo further planning and development before being resubmitted for funding approval.

In an interview, Alcázar Urrutia revealed that the expected budget for the first phase of the project, which includes an initial test with 100 taxi units, is around 2 million pesos. He emphasized the importance of careful planning for this project to ensure clarity for both the taxi drivers and passengers regarding the fare charges.

The current zone-based fare system is complex and often leads to confusion for both parties involved. The introduction of taxi meters aims to simplify this process and provide transparency in fare charges.
