Cancún, Quintana Roo — Cancún is gearing up for a series of large-scale Children’s Day celebrations designed to promote healthy community interaction and strengthen social bonds.
Municipal authorities have announced a special lineup of events running from April 26 to 30, aiming to decentralize the festivities and bring activities to the city’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. Organizers expect up to 7,000 participants, with an estimated 4,500 to 5,000 children accompanied by parents or guardians.
To manage the logistical challenge and ensure safety, the city has diversified locations and schedules to prevent overcrowding.
Marisol Sendo Rodríguez, director of the Municipal DIF (Family Development Agency), said the operational deployment will begin several days in advance to cover as much territory as possible.
“During the last week of April, from the 26th to the 30th, we will be working at different venues: Community Development Centers, Pilares, children’s assistance centers, the migrant shelter, and the temporary assistance home,” she said, emphasizing that no child should miss out on celebrating, regardless of their legal or social status.
Sendo Rodríguez highlighted the deeper message of child welfare and shared responsibility between government and society. “The focus is on sensitivity and making visible the rights of our children to play, and that our girls, boys, and adolescents must be protected, that they have safe places and that their homes are safe,” she said.
Additional mass events during the week will include surprises, artistic performances, and educational activities promoting healthy coexistence.
