Cancún, Quintana Roo — Parque Cancún has prioritized expanding its bike path this year while aiming to attract more visitors after welcoming around 200,000 people in 2025.
According to César Barrios, the park’s director, the space has become a key recreational spot for city residents. He explained that current efforts focus on strengthening various areas of the park, including garden maintenance, improvements to electrical and lighting systems, and expanding the bicycle circuit.
These actions are ongoing to preserve the 11 hectares already developed in optimal condition.
As part of its development plan, the administration is betting on reinforcing existing infrastructure and increasing both sports zones and community spaces for users. In this context, the bike path, which currently measures approximately two kilometers, is planned to expand to reach four kilometers total.
This project responds to growing interest in having safe and suitable spaces for cycling in contact with nature. In parallel, work is also underway to optimize electrification and lighting, key elements to improve safety and extend the park’s use during more hours of the day.
Barrios emphasized that the park spans 243 hectares, with about 80% maintained as an ecological conservation area. Meanwhile, the zone designated for recreational activities covers 43 hectares, land that previously operated as a municipal dump and has now become a significant green space for the city.
The park’s progress is also reflected in its social and sporting impact. After recording 200,000 visitors in 2025, the goal is to reach 300,000 this year.
