Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Our Lady Undoer of Knots Sanctuary in Cancún expects to welcome around 100,000 visitors during Holy Week and Easter, according to Father Luis Pablo Garza.

The priest said the religious site has become a significant spiritual reference point regionally and internationally, boosting religious tourism in the destination.

Due to the increase in pilgrims, plans are underway to build a hotel, two restaurants, and an event hall within the sanctuary complex to accommodate visitor demand.

For the season, the sanctuary will have a reinforced team of priests, including two clerics from Rome, Italy, who will participate in liturgical activities.

Celebrations will begin on Palm Sunday with six masses starting at 8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m., with free palm distribution.

On Holy Monday and Tuesday, the sacrament of confession will be prioritized, while Wednesday will feature a cineforum screening of the film “The Passion of the Christ.” That same evening, clergy will attend the Cathedral for the Chrism Mass.

Holy Thursday will include the washing of feet followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Good Friday will feature a contemplative Stations of the Cross inside the sanctuary, supported by screens and online streaming, along with the Celebration of the Passion of Christ.

Holy Saturday will include two Easter Vigils, and activities will conclude on Easter Sunday with the usual Sunday masses.

The sanctuary’s growth reflects increasing devotion to Our Lady Undoer of Knots, solidifying its status as a key religious tourism site in Cancún.
