Cancún Extends Public Transport Hours for Grito de Independencia Celebrations

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Several public transport routes in Cancún will extend their operating hours into the early hours of Wednesday, Sept. 16, to help residents and visitors get home after Independence Day celebrations, officials announced.

The Benito Juárez city government, working through the Municipal Mobility Institute and in coordination with private transport companies, said nine routes — 1, 2, 5, 6, 17, 26, 28, 44 and 510 — will stay in service until 2 a.m.

Authorities set up specific boarding points for overnight riders:

• At the bus stop on Avenida Cobá, in front of the IMSS clinic, riders can board routes 2, 44 and 510.
• At the ADO terminal stop on Avenida Tulum, riders can board routes 1, 5, 6, 17, 26, 28 and 510, which will also run until 2 a.m.

The MOBI Route 27, which crosses the Nichupté Bridge, will operate on an even longer schedule, running until 3 a.m. on Sept. 16 while keeping its normal route.

The extended service is intended to give residents and visitors public transport options in the hours after the main Grito de Independencia events wrap up.

Officials urged riders to check the published schedules and boarding points so they can plan their trips in advance during the holiday festivities.
