Body Found in Bag on Cancun Avenue, Police Investigate
Cancun, Quintana Roo — A body, apparently dismembered and stuffed inside a black plastic bag, was discovered Monday afternoon on the median of Centenario Avenue in Cancun’s Region 227 neighborhood.
The discovery was made around 2 p.m. between Calles 32 and 34, prompting a large police response.
According to neighbors, two individuals on a tricycle reportedly left the bag on the median Saturday night. However, it was not until Monday afternoon that a local resident rummaging through the bag found the body inside.
Authorities have not released details about the victim, but witnesses at the scene said the body appeared to be dismembered.
Police cordoned off the area while investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office processed the scene and removed the body.
State investigators are gathering evidence to identify those responsible for leaving the body in the public thoroughfare.
