The Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Traffic in Cancún has issued a warning about the distribution of flyers with fraudulent QR codes. These codes have the potential to steal your personal information.
The flyers reportedly contain the message: "Vehicle in violation. You parked incorrectly. To see your fine scan the QR code". Local authorities have confirmed that this message is false and may be part of a scheme to clone personal data from mobile phones, including contacts and passwords.
Citizens are strongly advised not to scan these QR codes. Any suspicious activity related to this type of fraud should be reported immediately.
