Cancún, Mexico — An operation led by the State Attorney General's Office, with support from the Mexican Navy, the National Guard, and the Secretariat of Citizen Security, resulted in the rescue of 14 women believed to be victims of human trafficking at a bar in Cancún.
The joint action was carried out at a bar located on Miguel Hidalgo Avenue, between 93rd and 95th streets in the city's supermanzana 93 district. Authorities arrived with a search warrant issued by a control judge, following an investigation that revealed the possible sexual exploitation occurring inside the establishment.
At the scene, law enforcement agents detained an individual identified as Domingo ‘N’, who was identified as the person in charge of the location. According to reports, the business operated with established rates: 350 pesos for a drink, which included companionship and groping; 500 pesos for a private dance; and 2,000 pesos for 15-minute sexual encounters. The detained man allegedly supervised the operations and kept the majority of the money.
During the search, agents secured condoms, notebooks containing records, cash, and a laptop used to manage the business operations. Upon concluding the official procedures, authorities placed seizure seals on the property, which was placed under ministerial custody.
Domingo ‘N’ was turned over to the Public Prosecutor's Office, where his legal status will be determined regarding his probable involvement in crimes related to human trafficking.
The 14 women, all Mexican nationals, were transported to the facilities of the State Attorney General's Office to receive care and shelter, as they were considered to be in a situation of vulnerability.
The operation highlighted how some bars in Cancún serve as fronts for exploitation activities, where victims are used as merchandise under the promise of easy employment.
