Tulum, Quintana Roo — State and federal authorities raided a suspected drug distribution point in Tulum’s Maya Pax neighborhood on Tuesday as part of an investigation into recent violent incidents in the area.

The operation targeted a residence on Chikil Street, between Tun-Kul and Okoot, where agents from the State Prosecutor’s Office, through its specialized narcotics unit, entered the property with support from security forces. State Police, Tulum Public Security and Citizen Protection officers, and Mexican Army personnel also participated, securing the perimeter during the search.

Authorities said the site was under investigation for its alleged connection to violent events reported in the municipality in recent days. The raid aimed to locate and dismantle drug distribution points operating in this part of the city.

During the two-hour operation, ministerial agents searched the property and reportedly seized various substances resembling narcotics. However, officials confirmed no arrests were made and no firearms were found inside the raided location.

Details on the type and quantity of drugs seized have not been released, as investigations continue to determine the possible scope of illicit activities conducted from the site.

A funeral home vehicle arrived in the area during the intervention, drawing attention from neighbors and witnesses. Ministerial agents present at the operation said the vehicle came to transport a person who had died from pathological causes, unrelated to the raid.

The security deployment drew crowds of residents in the Maya Pax neighborhood, who watched patrols and armed personnel during the operation. After completing the search, authorities secured the location and continued their investigations.
