Puerto Morelos — A joint operation by the Investigative Police of the State Attorney General’s Office and the National Guard led to the arrest of Sergio N, alias “El 19,” in Puerto Morelos. The 28-year-old, originally from Tabasco, was identified as a member of a criminal group and a priority target in the state’s Crime Atlas, the corresponding authority reported.

The same police operation resulted in the arrest of three additional members of the same criminal cell: Jesús del Carmen N, Ana Cristina N, and Nayeli Fernanda N, all originally from Tabasco. During the operation, law enforcement seized two Taurus brand firearms, 30 rounds of ammunition, and one vehicle.

According to the official report, Sergio N is under investigation for extortion against 26 taxi drivers from the Benito Juárez municipal union. He allegedly demanded 300 pesos per week from them beginning in October 2025 in exchange for allowing them to work. The prosecution stated that drivers who refused to pay were kidnapped, beaten with a board, and threatened with death.

Authorities also indicated that the detainee allegedly served as the head of this criminal organization in the coastal area of Puerto Morelos, where he was considered a generator of violence and responsible for extorting businesses in that region.

The four detainees were placed at the disposal of the judge to determine their legal status.
