Isla Mujeres, Mexico — The municipal government of Isla Mujeres, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, will host large-scale festivals to celebrate Children’s Day, organized by the local System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF).
Dual Celebrations for Island and Mainland Families
The festivities will take place across two locations. On Friday, April 25, at 5:30 p.m., families in Ciudad Mujeres (mainland) can attend the event at the Hugo Ravell Dome. The following day, Saturday, April 26, at 5:30 p.m., the celebration will move to the Bicentennial Dome on Isla Mujeres.
These events are part of the municipal government’s efforts to promote healthy family bonding, inclusion, and the well-being of children. Attendees can expect an afternoon filled with joy, surprises, and gifts, featuring games, candy, performances, and other activities tailored for young attendees.
Mayor’s Commitment to Children’s Well-Being
Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde emphasized that every detail of the festivals has been carefully planned to ensure children enjoy moments of fun, entertainment, and affection. She invited families to attend both events, noting that the celebrations will begin on the mainland before moving to the island.
Gómez Ricalde reiterated her administration’s dedication to supporting vulnerable groups, particularly children, ensuring they grow up with love, opportunities, and safe spaces for healthy development. The festivals will be free of charge and held in a secure, family-friendly environment.
The mayor also highlighted her ongoing commitment to initiatives benefiting children, referencing her recent involvement in the "Familia Pescadora 2025" program, which supports local fishing families.
The DIF Isla Mujeres-organized celebrations aim to reinforce the municipality’s pledge to foster a community that prioritizes children’s happiness and development.
