Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities successfully transferred a 30-week pregnant woman from Cozumel to Cancun by helicopter for specialized medical care, officials announced.

The patient, identified as Shaely Gabriela, was moved to the Jesús Kumate Rodríguez General Hospital in Cancún from the Cozumel General Hospital. The operation was coordinated by the Medical Emergency Regulatory Center (CRUM), a free service that manages pre-hospital emergencies and medical transfers.

Governor Mara Lezama praised the coordination between health institutions, stating, “Every minute counts when it comes to protecting the life of a mother and her baby. Thanks to coordination among our health institutions, we make it possible for those who need it most to receive timely specialized care.”

The helicopter flight took approximately 20 minutes, covering about 70 kilometers over the Caribbean Sea. CRUM operates 24/7 through the 911 emergency line, enabling rapid response for urgent medical cases.
