Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A shooting attack on Wednesday morning left one man dead in Chetumal, specifically on Sacalaca Street at Aarón Merino Avenue in the Payo Obispo neighborhood.
The victim was identified with the initials M.G., who died at the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses near the site reported hearing at least seven gunshots.
The incident occurred near the CFE substation in Payo Obispo.
Personnel from the Vice Prosecutor’s Office of Justice for the Southern District are working on evidence collection, having recovered seven spent cartridges at the scene.
Forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office were responsible for gathering evidence and removing the body to be transported to the Forensic Medical Service.
The area of the incident was immediately cordoned off in both lanes.
The presence of authorities from all three levels of government was confirmed at the site to begin the corresponding procedures.
