Aguakan Hosts First Water Festival in Cancún, Drawing Over 830 Youth

Students participate in activities at the Aguakan Water Festival in Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Aguakan drew more than 830 young people to its first Water Festival in Cancún, an event marking World Water Day with the theme “Water unites us, gives us life, and moves us.” The free festival at CECyTE Plantel 1 brought together students from all grades for environmental education and water conservation activities.

The event featured games testing agility and mental skills, contests with prizes, inflatables, a children’s area, a creative “Paint Your Bag” station, a photo gallery, an “Aguakan in History” exhibit, and an interactive story called “The Water Orchestra.”

“These initiatives are crucial because they strengthen the development of responsible habits in students,” said Gladys Gómez Ku, director of CECyTE Plantel 1 in Cancún. “The most valuable aspect is that these lessons extend beyond the classroom, as young people take them home and into the community, creating a broader positive impact.”

Aguakan designed the festival’s social responsibility activities to match participants’ ages, complementing academic knowledge and reinforcing key curriculum content while fostering awareness in future decision-makers.

“The festival aims to bring knowledge about the water system to different educational levels and promote awareness about equity, water access, and the shared responsibility among society, companies, and government for its preservation,” said Alejandra Mayorga, Aguakan’s Social Responsibility Coordinator.
