Sewer Upgrade Benefits 1,500 Homes in Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — In fulfillment of its commitment to improving sanitation services, Aguakan continues with the second phase of the sewer modernization project in Puerto Morelos, with an investment exceeding 13 million pesos benefiting more than 1,500 homes.

The project involves the installation of over 2,500 linear meters of 20-inch and 6-inch pipe using the open trench method, starting at the Zetina Gazca Wastewater Pumping Station and heading to the Villas Morelos IV Wastewater Treatment Plant. This work will optimize the conveyance of wastewater to treatment plants, where it will be properly treated and reinjected into the subsoil at depths exceeding 100 meters, following environmental responsibility and sustainability criteria.

Additionally, sewer work continues gradually, advancing on Timón Avenue, Section 2, during January, February, and March 2026; and concluding on Timón Avenue, Section 3, during April 2026.

For the execution of this project, the open trench method is used, divided into six strategic stages, with the objective of minimizing impacts on roadways. The work is carried out in an orderly manner with detailed planning, in direct coordination with the Puerto Morelos Municipal Government and Municipal Traffic Department.

“This project is key for Puerto Morelos, as it allows expanding the capacity of the sewer network and addressing population growth. Through phased planning and coordination with municipal authorities, we seek to provide a more reliable and sustainable service, maintaining direct communication with residents to offer better attention during the work,” stated Jorge Rosas Ortega, Aguakan Works Coordinator in Playa del Carmen.

With the progress of this second phase, Aguakan consolidates actions that strengthen the municipality’s sanitation infrastructure, improving efficiency in wastewater management and supporting Puerto Morelos’s growth, contributing to a city with more reliable services and a better quality of life for its inhabitants.
