Cozumel, QRoo — A man was detained by Public Security forces after a violent incident on the corner of 7th Street and 5th Avenue, following intervention by local residents and motorists alarmed by his aggressive behavior.
According to witnesses, the man had been persistently asking for money at the intersection for some time before he began hitting vehicles and throwing himself against drivers who did not give him cash. The situation escalated when he attempted to throw himself onto a taxi, which prompted bystanders to temporarily subdue him.
To restrain the individual, some residents held him tied upside down, with his feet in the air, while they waited for the authorities to arrive. Minutes later, Public Security officers took the man into custody and placed him at the disposal of a presiding judge to determine his legal status.
