New Medical Tech Boosts Care at Playa del Carmen Hospital

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa conducted an inspection tour of Playa del Carmen General Hospital to oversee the operational deployment of two state-of-the-art medical devices: a cutting-edge digital mammography machine and a 128-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner. These instruments are critical for the early detection of various diseases, including breast cancer, as well as neurological, cardiac, and abdominal pathologies.

Digital Mammography Enhances Early Breast Cancer Detection

During her visit, Governor Lezama emphasized the significance of the new digital mammography machine, which enables the identification of breast cancer in its earliest stages, substantially improving the chances of successful treatment.

"Since January, more than 600 women have been examined using this equipment, which includes 3D technology that allows for highly precise biopsies," the Governor stated. This advancement positions Playa del Carmen General Hospital as a regional leader in women's healthcare across the Yucatán Peninsula.

CT Scanner Restores High-Precision Diagnostic Capabilities

The newly installed CT scanner marks a major upgrade for the hospital, which had been without such equipment for the past four years.

"With this tool, we will be able to conduct high-precision diagnostics, potentially saving hundreds, if not thousands, of lives each year," Lezama affirmed, underscoring her administration's commitment to improving public health infrastructure.

Governor Lezama reiterated that her government prioritizes ensuring free access to high-quality healthcare for all Quintana Roo residents.
